Continuous mixing and straining
VMI-AZ Extrusion has developed a continuous final mixing system, called iCOM®, using the transfermix extruder mixing technology (MCTD) along with a gear pump. This system is regarded as a proven, superior final mixing process providing final stage mixing and increased capacity on the internal mixer at a reduced cost with improved quality, for both sulfur and peroxide cured compounds.
With a transfermix single screw extruder mixer technology (MCTD) supported by a Shark® gear pump, the mixing parameters are easily optimized for every compound whilst the chemical dosing is provided by a gravimetric loss-in weight feeder. In addition a vacuum extruder can be used to eliminate gas inclusion.
Benefits of the iCOM® system include:
- Low temperature mixing
- Increased mixing capacity at low investment
- Compound blending for stable viscosity
- Transfermix provides dispersive and distributive mixing
- Gear pump and head with integrated strainer
- Significantly reduced energy consumption with no peaks
- No master batch or dosing required
